FEBRUARY

NATIONAL DAY
OF SOLIDARITY WITH MUSLIM, ARAB AND SOUTH ASIAN IMMIGRANTS
In
the wake of September 11th, over 1500 people, mainly Arabs, South Asians
and Muslims, have been rounded up by the FBI and INS. They are being
kept in detention, many on the basis of secret evidence or no evidence
at all, and without contact with a lawyer or their loved ones. The
government has refused to reveal their identities or whereabouts.
They have "disappeared."

First
they came for the Communists and I didn't speak up
because
I wasn't a Communist.
Then
they came for the Jews, and I didn't speak up
because
I wasn't a Jew.
Then
they came for the trade unionists, and I didn't speak up
because
I wasn't a trade unionist.
Then
they came for the Catholics and I didn't speak up
because
I was a Protestant.
Then
they came for me, but by that time,
no
one was left to speak up.
